For the first time in its six-season history, the Card Player Poker Tour is making its way to South Florida this August. The tour has descended on the beautiful Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park, for a 10-event series that boasts a combined $485,000 in guarantees.

The series officially kicked off with a $200,000 guaranteed $360 buy-in no-limit hold’em event. The tournament began on Aug. 16 and six starting flights. The event ended up attracting a total field of 759 entries, blowing past the guarantee to create a final prize pool of $227,700.

The top 40 players ended up making the money, with the top seven players all ultimately earning five-figure paydays. The final seven made a deal which saw the title awarded to Erik Nomberg, who was the chip leader at the time. Nomberg took home $28,510 as the champion of the event.
Nomberg entered the final table as the chip leader with 80 big blinds. His stack only grew when he scored the first elimination at the final table. Zachary Milchman get all-in preflop holding the KK. He was up against Nomberg’s AQ and was in good shape to double up. The board had other ideas, though, bringing the QQ428 to give Nomberg trip queens and the knockout. Milchman earned $4,060 as the ninth-place finisher.
Pompano Park Poker Tournaments
Michael Kopjanski was the next to go. David Coughlin had opened to 125,000 before Kopjanski attempted to open for 150,000. He had not seen Coughlin’s action, and as a result was forced to just call the 125,000. The chips all got in on the turn with a board of 8553. Coughlin had flopped a full house with 88 and taken a commanding lead over Kopjanski’s QQ. The river kept Coughlin in the lead, sending Kopjanski to the rail with $5,120 for his eighth-place showing.
The remaining seven players then looked at the numbers and agreed to a deal based on an ICM chop. Here is a look at the payouts and Card Player Player of the Year points awarded to the final table:

While this event is already in the books, there are plenty of other events on the schedule including a $300 six-max no-limit hold’em tournament, a $300 pot-limit Omaha tournament with $200 rebuys, and no-limit hold’em tournaments with buy-ins of $130 and $150.
The highlight of the series is undoubtedly the $1,100 CPPT main event, which sports a $200,000 guarantee. There are three starting flights for the main event, kicking off Thursday, Friday, and Saturday between Aug. 23-25. Each player will receive 30,000 in chips to start while enjoying a generous 40-minute blind structure on day 1.

Players can also buy-in up until the start of day 2, which is Sunday, Aug. 26. The blinds will be increased to 50 minutes on day 2, and 60 minutes during the final table on Monday, Aug. 27. Main event qualifiers begin Wednesday, Aug. 22 and run daily until Sunday. Satellite buy-ins range from $130 to $240.
