I would love to hear more about the Human Slot machine. I understand it was a hit at the LVMI.
By the way, what a cool name for a guy that does coin magic.

The Human Slot Machine
I had the opportunity to see the human slot machine at the LVMI. I also had the opportunity to watch it a few more times in the halls at LVMI and Coinvention. I was able to see it performed under all kinds of conditions and watched the evolution of the effect as the author tried to accommodate all the suggestions of well meaning magical aficionados. Frankly, the take
captured on the LVMI/Convention DVD was not the best of the bunch.
Basically, it is some of the cleanest retention vanishes you have ever seen, and I mean ever. Not only does he put it in his hands, but his mouth. You SWEAR it is there and then it is gone. In the mouth out the ear, in the ear, out the other ear. Something about the handling is so clean and convincing that hard core coin guys were scratching their heads and saying do that again!
Finally there is a sudden explosion of coins from each eye, ear and throat as about 30 coins crash down on a table making a sound much like the payoff to a big jackpot. And that is exactly what it is. A jackpot of coin manipulation.
Some may criticize the simple and directness of the final production, but I think that is what makes it so effective. Why clutter up such a dramatic production with a lot of extraneous moves. The subtlety was in the earlier part, this is the payoff. Money and lots of it.

I like his moves and everything from the technical aspect, and I know Im going to catch **** for saying this but does any one else find his presentation just a little bit irritating, I think he could be such a powerful force in magic if he dropped the goofy orangutan style.
I hope I didn't anger anyone with this comment, Mickey is a very nice guy, I met him a couple times, but I just think his presentation could be immproved.

I hear you Joe, and I've watched audiences of laymen and magicians go wild over what he does the way he does it.

I'd say let Mickey be who he is, as he's pretty unique at what he does and how he does it. I've seen loads of the top coin guys do what they do in what might be considered 'acceptable' styles of presentation, and like JT says here, I've also been in a room, a whole restarant & bar where everyone in the place was floored by the guy doing what he do..Believe me there were loads of wonderful magicians all about the place, and only one goofy orangutan, errrrrr Mickey Silver, only one. There are a lot out there like most of the rest that I guess you find a bit more palatable, but only a few if any of this guy. Maybe it's because he does what he does so very well, so differently.. Try and appreciate the art as it hangs on the wall, not as you would have it hung.

Here is a guy (Mickey) who has pages after pages of praise coming from people in the know..now we get one teenage self-proclaimed internet wonder picking out non-existent flaws. How funny is that? Joe, really..you need to watch more..learn more and until you can prove to do better..just remember the golden rule..children should be seen, not heard!

Ouch, Joe, you deserved that - but, ouch!
Joe, Mickey is a genuinely nice person that is also genuinely talented. Here is a lesson from an old magician - don't criticize people who have both those qualities.

I think that Mickey used one of the best marketing ideas that I have ever seen.
With all the free dvds and vhs tapes that he sent out to all, he became known all over the world Very quickly and is in demand for performances continually.
Ideas and his magic are priceless and brilliant.
He truly is one of a kind and I am happy that I have lived long enough to have seen what he has created and to have him for a friend.

Sounds great, I love the idea of reversing the retention vanish, I wonder if reversing a move has any ohter applications, but I suppose in a way this new move is similar to vanishing and producing coins from say Downs palm, but with 2 hands, if that makes sense.. Where can his video be bought, I'd love to see someone as flawless as Mickey sounds, although I must confess to having never heard the name before.

I think that is totally uncalled for, here is someone just expressing his opinion on someone's presentation, which is lets face it all a matter of taste and differs from person to person, and he is insulted and told to shut up! He has recognised Mickey's technical skill, but mildly put that his presentation wasn't particulraly his thing, and wondering if anyone else thought the same! The pages after pages of praise are all about technical skill, this was the first mention of presentation, and as for your 'Golden Rule', if that was followed, which it hasn't since about 1893, this forum would be an extremely dull place!

Sleightly Small, Stating that someones style of performance doesn't suit you is fine..but stating his style is a goofy orangatang style..now who's being insulting? Avast majority of this kid's posts are negative..constantly putting down others..that's boring! And yes..until he has some actuall experience in the real world performing..he should shut up..he may learn something!

I know for a FACT, it's been followed way past 1893.

There Will never be another Mickey silver in my life time.
IMO he is the most creative coin worker of this century...
There is no one on this planet that can do with coins what he does ...
There are several excellent coin workers on this forum I am not taking any thing away form them..and too many to name
Mickey has his own style and I am glad that he is unique to this

Hey, Vinny; where's your hat? Did you step down from being the Godfather? You look like just a regular guy.
